The reason why players ask for a new set-up is pure superstition. They feel that they are unlucky for that deck of cards or that cards only give them bad beats. That’s why there are asking for a new set of cards hoping for a stroke of new luck.

Avoid this kind of practice; don’t be like that. It only hinders the game for five minutes or more since the dealer goes through an additional security check for inspecting the new set of cards, and is required to be shuffled appropriately.

“Cards are Marked!”

You probably heard this from someone who is losing consistently. Actually, there was a funny TV commercial way back from the 1970s for M&M chocolate that featured poker cards covered with chocolate fingerprints because the dealer was secretly snacking the chocolate. Then, the player gets angry about the dealer’s conspiracy, and M&M comes to the scene by giving him a mess-free type of chocolate.

In reality, a deck of a card can be marked, and how to mark cards is very simple if you don’t get caught. Actually, some cards can be bought in the market that is marked. Most of them are marked using the latest technology, some can be seen by wearing a contact lens, and others are by visual appearances. These types of cards are suitable if you’re playing with your families and friends, and you want to show off your so-called “poker skills.”

In a poker room, the reason why players are requesting a new set-up or a new deck of cards is they feel that the cards have a visible marked on it. Sometimes the culprit of these marks are due to greasiness due to players are eating on the table or perhaps the cards have a tear in card’s edge as the card ages.

Automatic Card Shufflers

As technology continues to evolve, casino and poker rooms also adapt to these changes. Many poker rooms are now using automatic card shufflers instead of manual card shuffles. These automatic shufflers are built into the poker tables. Also, it is an excellent time-saver for the players and dealers, providing more sessions in an hour, thus making money moves quicker.
